CAPI is a platform intended for companies that manage both a large volume of content, as well as a variety of content types. CAPI handles different aspects of content management such as user authentication, resizing or reformatting content, and standardizing multiple formats into one. CAPI uses technologies such as REST APIs, artificial intelligence, and metadata extraction to make this content management possible.
The CAPI platform can handle content types such as videos, articles, images, galleries, collections, and much more. When users make a GET call to the CAPI platform, they can choose to retrieve that information in either JSON or XML format. Users also have the option of pulling information in short form, long form, or as a snippet.
CAPI handles all of the permissions regarding content. This means that CAPI Content Owners do not need to jump through loopholes to share content such as articles, images, videos, and more. All of the permissions and authentication are completed throughout the CAPI funnel. CAPI’s Consumption Stack allows users to access advanced functionality such as resizing images, resizing videos, and reformatting content. For example, users can make a POST call to CAPI with one image size, and easily make a GET call immediately after with the same image, but resized. The time it takes for CAPI to complete this task is relatively low, which results in time saved for companies and teams on a tight schedule.
When content is pushed to CAPI, it is converted into a universal and standardized format. This is beneficial for media companies that may have multiple publication outlets with a variety of formats. Having one universal format everyone has access to helps improve the workflow between teams and departments.
